Vintage bridle leather is a rare leather crafted in southern England using a time-honoured method that has remained unchanged for centuries. It is tanned using traditional British techniques, dating back to Roman times, by alternating layers of raw hide and oak bark in a pit filled with water, allowing the oak extract to penetrate every corner of the hide.

The leather is tanned over a period of approximately one year, gradually increasing the concentration of oak extract in the pit. After that, the leather is finished with bridle grease for several more months. This finish preserves the natural texture of the leather, allowing you to fully enjoy the rich aging process. The "Natural" finish, in particular, is undyed, allowing you to directly experience the leather's natural texture. Each piece is unique, exuding a unique, untamed strength. This leather possesses a firm, tensile strength. This leather is still used today for parts that require particular strength, such as leather for horse tack, such as leather for hanging metal fittings for horseback riding, and safety harnesses.

Because it is produced using ancient, primitive methods that emphasise practicality over decorativeness, much of the leather does not appear to be very beautiful at first glance, but the inevitable small scratches, wrinkles, and gloss marks are important elements that create the powerful look that emerges from this leather.
